My most daring mother-to-be session was yesterday afternoon, and I am in love with these images. April & Rhonda Model Portraits

Brent is at it again! Tuesday night he created these beautiful images on a backroad near our house. The evening lighting was perfect, although the mosquitos were hungry. (Good thing Brent brought the bug spray.) April has worked with Brent a couple times in the past year, and this was our first time meeting Rhonda. Ryan & Katie

Saturday, the 28th, Ryan and Kaite were married at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Lansing. The weather looked like rain all morning, but following the ceremony, the weather was beautiful as we took over the MSU Children's Gardens. Again, we ran into about five other bridal parites either marrying at the Garden, or stopping there for pictures. After a toasty walk around (ok, I was sweaty... :) we went back to the church for the reception. The images turned out fantastic, and we had a lot of fun with the bridal party. One of our brides from last year was a guest at the wedding, and it was fantastic to see them again. The last picture above is one of my favorite dancing pictures ever.

Allison & Josh

Allison and Josh's wedding was held at the MSU Alumni Chapel on the campus of Michigan State University. The event was beautiful and was followed by a very fun BBQ reception at the MSU Gardens. A pretty heavy storm passed through during the ceremony, but again, our luck prevailed as we were able to get outdoors for portraits after the ceremony.

The four piece bluegrass band (Hawks and Owls) at the reception was amazing and gave the event a fun, upbeat backyard party atmosphere. The ribs and BBQ chicken were amazing (thanks to Winston's Barbeque) and the bibs celebrating the event were hilarious. What a great Sunday afternoon.

Amanda & Evan

Amanda and Evan were married Saturday, June 21st at St. John's Student Parish in East Lansing. The day started off with threatening clouds and a shower during the ceremony. Luckily, the rain cleared by the time we were ready to head outdoors for pictures.

It was great spending the day with fellow Spartans, and with 2.5 hours between the ceremony and reception, we drove all over campus for some amazing pictures. I believe we passed about six other wedding parties on campus! We stopped at Sparty, Beaumont Tower, the MSU Union and the Gardens. The reception followed at the Union and I captured my favorite garter toss grab of all time. I love that you can see how high they are jumping, and the hand with the garter in it! Amanda and Evan were a great couple to work with and both sets of parents drove around with us on campus and made it a really awesome day for the newlyweds.

LIVE UNITED

Monday afternoon, two volunteers for the Capital Area United Way, joined me in the studio for portraits for the LIVE UNITED campaign. LIVE UNITED is a constant reminder that when we reach out a hand to one, we improve the condition of all. Heidi & Britton

This Saturday we spent the day in Traverse City with Heidi and Britton. The ceremony and reception were at the Beach Haus, right on the bay. It was a beautiful day (and I managed to get a pretty good sunburn), and the images turned out great. Heidi and Britton also incoporated a new Christian tradition, feet washing, into thier ceremony. They used this rite to represent the servant attitude of Jesus Christ and to mirror that in thier marriage. It was beautiful.

Cole & Brooke

Wow, it was hard picking only 5 images to put on this blog. This session was so much fun and these two kids are absolutely adorable. Joe and Rachel are heading to Arizona in mid July to serve as dorm parents at a Christian school. They are great examples of following God's leading, and we wish them all the best on thier move. Brooke and Cole were so much fun to photograph. Cole is in love with Hockey, the Red Wings in particular, and Brooke is a princess (note the beautiful high heel shoes!). Jessica & Paul

Our wedding season started off with a bang! Friday, June 6th, Jessica and Paul were married at the Grand Ledge Opera House. The day started off very promising with the ladies portraits at 3:30pm in the bright (very hot) sun. By the time the gentlemen arrived at 4:30, the clouds were rolling in and the facilities management decided to bring the chairs inside to avoid them getting wet. At this point, the couple was conisdering an indoor ceremony on the Terrace Level. After the portraits with the guys, the rain, thunder and lightning began, pushing the ceremony indoors and also upstairs to the ballroom level. It was all going well, with help from the bridal party setting up the last minute location change until the power went off, the generators kicked on, and then the fire alarm went off! We had to wait another 45 minutes for the Fire Department to arrive and shut down the alarms. The ceremony started about an hour late, but the bride and groom were not even phased by all the chaos. The rest of the night went off without a hitch, and we even got to take outdoor portraits after the storm! What an amazing couple, and I am sure I will never forget this wedding.

Ashley the Model

Normally Ashely avoids the backdrop, especially if we are taking her portrait. Today, she decided it was her turn after a session with a mother and son, Ashely let us know it was 'Ashely's turn' as she lay down on the backdrop and started posing. I LOVE the top image. I am going to blow it up to a 20x30 for my basement. I love her expression, the quietness of it, her little earring and hair clip, it just speaks to me. Thanks Ashely, for taking turns.

Stephanie & Bo

That last face I believe says it all. How can you go wrong with huge beautiful brown eyes and of course, the orange chair. I love how these images really share the intamacy and love between a mother and her baby. It is amazing how fast they change, and I love helping to capture each of these stages and thier blossoming personalities!

Leesa & Noah

I have been honored to photograph Leesa for most of life's biggest moments. Her engagement portraits, wedding photos, maternity, infant and family portraits have all been amazing, and now I get the chance to see her little boy grow up! I love the last image, (I am addicted to the orange chair right now...) the window lighting is so beautiful, as is Leesa.
